It may seem that I live in two disparate worlds of photography.
My business, Imaging4Art, is dedicated to the work of others. It is the highly technical practice of using the tools of photography to document, as accurately as possible, artwork for prominent museums, galleries, art foundations and collectors. It requires the use of all the skills I have acquired through years of training and experience to create images where I, as the photographer, remain invisible.
My personal work is, well, personal. No longer invisible, my presence becomes an integral part of the image - letting the viewer see through my eyes and experience the world as I experience it. These works, guided by instinct and emotion, are a visible manifestation of my desire to create and bring my ideas to light.
But rather than being in conflict, both sides meld together to complete the whole. Indeed, there is 'art' in applying the technical skills needed to create a faithful reproduction of someone else's work of art just as the creation of my own deeply personal imagery draws upon all the technical skills it has taken me a lifetime to master. I have embraced the yin and yang of this relationship.
This site is dedicated to my personal work – specifically my ongoing series of intimate images of flowers captured in fleeting moments as they transition through the stages of their existence. Using the same skills, tools and equipment that allow for extremely large and highly detailed images of works by some of the world's greatest artists, these flower portraits open the door into a surprising macro world of line, form and color.
Welcome to my world – I hope you enjoy the visit!
